Email to the EMI asking for copyright permission

In order to successfully begin filming our music video, I had to contact Richard Stone from EMI to apply for a copy of the song. This is a typical code of conduct found in the music industry so that the user does not breach any intellectual property laws.
Copyright is the set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work; however copyright only applies for a limited time. It applies to the music industry as it restricts individuals from using the original song or its lyrics in any form.
There has been a huge debate over copyright within the music industry as unauthorised services allow users to download recordings free of charge. Publishing companies such as EMI have taken actions against these groups in the past but copyright infringement still exists through activities such as file sharing.
The internet provides websites that offer unlicensed song scores and lyrics so to ensure that I do not obtain any of these I will email the record label to ensure that the music video is completely legal.
