Clips from the video shoot that I am not using with explanations of why I have rejected them

I am not using the shot below because of the unintentional extras that feature in the background. The image is meant to show the characters point of view but the focal point is no longer the two characters walking towards the camera, but all of the people positioned in the centre of the frame. However, I will reshoot this clip as the angles and the location is very effective in conveying a loving relationship between the two actors.

Lighting is crucial to making a successful music video and that is the reason why I have decided against using this shot. This is part of a pan from left to right, but because the camera is facing the sun it is over exposed and all of the surroundings are much darker than the sun, which is central. The shot on the left also shows that the shadows created by the sun prevented us from filming in this particular corridor location. The lines created from the glass roof makes it very difficult to recognise the characters facial features and therefore I decided against incorporating this into my final edit.

The image below also shows footage that I dismissed due to bad lighting. As I got further into the project I started to appreciate the effect that lighting has on filming. However, this over the shoulder shot was in the early stages of filming and the character is not clearly visible. I wanted to recapture this footage so I waited until a light afternoon to make full use of the natural light entering through the windows.

Finally, I decided against using this footage as part of the narrative as feedback stated that it took the lyrics to literally. The idea of weightlifting to illustrate which actor is the most dominant didn’t really fit in with the rest of the music video so I decided not to disrupt the continuity. Although I wanted to show the two actors competing against one another to portray the difference in their physical appearance, it didn’t make sense if you were to compare it to the rest of the video.
